General Questions

How long will it take to process my order?

Most standard orders are completed and shipped no more than 4 weeks of arriving at our production facility. However, our average turnaround is usually 12 to 15 business days on standard orders, or approximately 2-3 weeks. Orders including specialty or professional format media, or orders with an exceptionally large amount of media may take a bit longer.


Why not digitize my photos, videos, audio and film myself?

Digitizing media at home is a very time-consuming and monotonous undertaking that often produces low quality results. Digital Pickle uses high quality commercial equipment and a proprietary process to get the job done properly and cost-effectively.

What can you digitize?

We can digitize virtually every type of still images (photos, negatives, slides), every type of video (every consumer type, most professional formats, and all international formats such as PAL and SECAM), and 8mm and 16mm silent and sound films. We also digitize audio cassettes, reel-to-reel audio tapes, and vinyl records. Please note that our video transfer pricing is for NTSC format video. PAL and SECAM video carries an additional format conversion fee of $9.99/tape


What area does your Walk-in Center & service cover?

Our coverage extends to much of the San Francisco Bay Area, a large area in the Los Angeles metro area and the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. Please click on San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles Metro or Miami for contact info and pickup and dropoff locations. If you are not near one of our Walk-in Centers, you can ship your order to us via UPS, FedEx or the US Postal Service.


How safe is it to ship my photos & videos?

If you do not live close to one of our partner Walk-in Centers, you will need to ship your media to our national processing center. But don't fret - the reliability of couriers like FedEx and UPS is extremely high. We've received and processed thousands of orders from all over the country, and we've never had a case of a lost parcel. If you're still concerned, send it to us by overnight express. We'll receive your package the very next morning. We return ship all of your media via UPS Ground service directly to your home.


Where is the actual work done?

We perform all conversion services in-house at our national processing center in Hayward, CA. We do not off-shore your project!


What about discounts?

We have built volume discounts into our tiered pricing model. Simply put, it is more efficient to work with one customers who has 20 tapes, than it is to work with 10 customers with 2 tapes each. Our tiered pricing rewards these customer by putting these savings back in their pocket. And don't forget - there is free return delivery to your residence via UPS Ground on ALL orders of $100 or more!

We use dedicated commercial equipment complete with noise reduction and image stabilization when we transfer home movies to DVD. Our process produces exceptional video quality. Digital Pickle can perform professional video editing and DVD authoring to your requirements. We are able to handle high volume video archiving projects and transfer video tapes to DVDs as well as uncompressed video to external hard drives or mini-DVs in AVI, Quicktime Pro-Res, or Quicktime MPEG4 (H.264) video formats.
We Digitize Movie Film – convert film to DVD. We convert 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm film using high fidelity digital transfer technology. Our all-digital aerial-capture process produces uniform lighting, unmatched clarity, and stunning color depth. Your film is converted to digital video in the form of full quality digital video files and/or a playable DVD disc that is compatible with almost all DVD players.
We digitize and convert records and transfer to CD any audio cassettes, reel-to-reel audio tapes and DAT and output the digital audio files to high quality audio CDs. We also offer additional track separation and audio cleanup services to reduce noise, hiss, and to normalize audio levels for audio cassette to CD transfer. When we convert records the same service is available.
We scan and digitize photos, slides, and negatives of any format using high-end Kodak HR-500 commercial image scanners that produce unmatched image quality. Our expert digital imaging technicians spend time with each individual frame to ensure ideal exposure, focus, color fidelity, cropping, and orientation. We create files suitable for online photo sharing as well as CDs or DVDs with image files and folders.
We can perform digital retouching on any photo or digital image. Image retouching is performed by our expert technicians manually using Adobe Photoshop. Since photo touch up requirements vary greatly, we quote our work on an hourly basis and most projects take much less than an hour. Photo Editing is often requested to remove or add objects or people to an original image resulting in a very different final image. This work is also quoted on an hourly basis for the same reasons as photo touch up.
Digital Pickle specializes in producing spectacular, flicker-free DVD slide shows with interactive features and your selection of music. The final product is a DVD disc that is compatible with almost all DVD players and can be controlled just like a movie (i.e. pause, fast-forward, etc.). DVD photo slide show, or Slideshow DVD, are also known as: DVD photo album, video slide show, DVD photo slideshow, family slide show, photomontage, wedding photo montage, or digital photo montage. Essentially, a slide to video conversion is what it is about. These all refer to the same great movie that we create out of the compilation of your memories as captured in photos, slides, negatives and even clips of video and film. This product is purchased as an add-on to our image scanning services
